Happy New Year everyone!!!  I know I haven't posted in a while.  I just can't seem to get my nose out of books anymore.  This is the Christmas card I made for my sister.  We live 6 hours apart and met in the middle right after Christmas.  I made this for her.

The background was created by simply stamping green on green.  The tree stamp is from Impression Obsession.  I love the way it came out.  I've had this stamp forever it seems and just haven't used it. The corners were done with a Fiskars punch.  The sentiment stamp is from Penny Black.  I wanted to keep it clean and simple.  I hope you like it.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Reading Rhonda (Rachel)

Hello.  I created these super cute bookmarks and I really wanted to share them with you.  I am an avid reader to say the least.  Before I got my Kindle, there wasn't a time where I didn't have a book in my hand.  Now, there isn't a time when I don't have either a book or Kindle or both in my hand.  I even read while watching tv.  My family barks at me all the time to stop reading, get out of the fantasy worlds and join the rest of them in the real world.  I prefer the fantasy.

I am a new member of the Sassy Studio Designs group on Paper Craft Planet.  My sisters are both in that group and they just love it.  They actually force me to craft with them.  I must admit though that I really do enjoy it.  Every week SSD gives away a a free image.  They call it Fabulous Freebie Friday.  All you have to do is download it on Friday and it is yours.

This image is called Reading Rachel.  I thought it was perfect for me since all I do is read.  I got it this past Friday, printed off a page of four and headed to work.  I was coloring them on break when my co-worker Ruthie asked if she could color one too.  I let her color and she did a great job.  I took the one she colored and made a bookmark for her.  Don't ask about the fourth one, I was having hair coloring issues with it.

The top bookmark is for my darling sister.  I found the feather barrette/brooch and knew I wanted to do something for her with it.  She has a green Amazon Parrot.  I made the bookmark and stuck a picture of her bird, Sydney in the corner.  The middle bookmark is the one Ruthie colored.  Great job Ruthie!!!  The bottom one is me again.  I just love this image.

I am entering the following challenges:

Father's Day Card

I had so much fun making my brother-in-law's card that I decided to make him another one.  Like I said in my last post, Bill gets overlooked sometimes so a second card should make him feel extra special.  This image is actually a pre-colored dimensional sticker. I thought it was vintage looking and sometimes I feel like Bill belongs back in time.  He should love this one.  As you can see from my last couple of cards, I am very into the natural papers.

Here are the challenges I have entered:

Simon Says Stamp - Anything goes
Fab 'n' Funky #125 - Father's Day

Live 2 Ride

See, I told you I wouldn't take another year off.  My sister kept hounding me so I made another card.  I must admit, I enjoy it.  I don't know why I don't do it more often.  This card is for my brother-in-law Bill.  He gets overlooked all the time so I thought I would make him feel special.  His wife, my sister, is a freak for motorcycles.  Bill doesn't ride one because they aren't safe but I thought my sister would get a kick out of this.  I hope Bill likes it.

Here are the challenges I have entered:

GREEN, GREEN, GREEN

I am going green with Sassy Studio Designs.  I am new to digital images and let me just tell you that I love them.  I picked out this cute little sassy mermaid from SSD.  I also got a couple of Sassy freebies.  I still don't know how to download and paypal and all that so I made my sister...let me correct myself...I made my amazingly wonderful sister do it for me.  Computers confuse me.   Did I mention I now owe her $3?  I thought rubber stamping was cool but digis take cool to a whole new level.

Anyway, the challenge was to use green as the main color.  I colored her with my generic watercolor markers.  I think I did good for a beginner.  I really hate the eyeshadow.  I asked my sister (who is on the Design Team) if she puts eyeshadow on hers and she said yes.  So I tried and I really don't like the way her eyes came out.  I think from now on I will leave the eyeshadow off.

I used more liberated (ok stolen) cardstock that I got from Ohio to make the card.  The ribbon and the gems were all mine.  I also used a Marvy punch for around the mermaid.  Not too shabby for a newbie.  All my sentiment stamps are just cheap ones I got from clearance bins.  I am not sure where this one came from.

Thanks for visiting my blog.  Hope to see you again soon.

Time for a Teddy

Things have been so sad lately.  I needed some comfort and what is more comforting than a Teddy Bear?  I stamped this cute little guy and colored him with generic water color markers from Pat Catan's.  I shop there every time I go to Ohio.  My sister lives right behind one.  You really can't beat the prices there.  I punched out the mat with my new Marvy punches.  I used a bit of grosgrain ribbon and a beautiful metal leaf charm.  The paper was from the stash I stole from my sister's studio.  She will never miss it!!!!

I am entering this in the 2 Sisters Teddy Bear Picnic challenge.  I am still just trying for one challenge a week.  Hopefully I will get savvy enough to enter more that one challenge with the same card in the near future.  But for now, one is enough.
